MRS. CENTRAL INDIANA TAKES ON MATERNAL HEALTH
INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Tieree Reid, Mrs. Central Indiana 2021 and a first-time titleholder, competed in the Mrs. Indiana America Pageant at age 41 on June 5, 2021, in South Bend, Ind., where she placed fifth runner-up. She took home the Fabulous Face Award and the Mrs. Congeniality Award and raised the largest amount of funds, $2,297, for Mrs. America’s corporate philanthropy, Victoria’s Voice Foundation.
The Victoria’s Voice Foundation was created in remembrance of David Siegel’s daughter, who overdosed at age 18. The Mrs. Indiana America Pageant is a division of Mrs. America, Inc.
Reid set a goal of raising $5,000 for charity by the end of 2021. Her focus is to increase access to support services for families grieving the loss of a baby in pregnancy or infancy.
Prior to living in Indiana, Reid lived in Lincoln, Nebraska where she served as a director of multicultural programs and services, chair of the Lincoln, Nebraska chapter of the Nebraskans United for Affirmative Action, and recognized transformative leader by Leadership Lincoln.
While living in Nebraska, Reid experienced horrific mistreatment after her fallopian tube exploded. To save her life, Reid called her primary physician at her home to have a doctor intervene. She was operated on with intake information and scheduled to be discharged when the intervening doctor learned Reid was not recovering. She required a massive blood transfusion.
Ranked higher than Nebraska, Indiana's maternal mortality rate is nearly twice as high as the national rate. In addition, Indiana's infant mortality rating is listed as one of the highest in the country.
Tieree, an Indianapolis resident since 2008, is married to Brendan Reid. They have a two-year old daughter, Nariyah. Tieree is an alumna of Harvard Graduate School of Education Women in Education Leadership program, doctoral student at Oakland City University, and a certified coach, trainer, and speaker with the John Maxwell Team.
During her reign as Mrs. Central Indiana 2021, Reid is using her voice to raise awareness of pregnancy and infant loss by hosting online discussions and speaking on podcasts with an international audience. Reid is currently seeking to partner with more individuals and organizations across Indiana to further this cause.
Reid is available to speak to your organization or group about pregnancy and infant loss. If you are interested in contacting or booking Tieree, please email mrscentralindiana2021@gmail.com or go to www.tiereereid.com.
